Orthotics

Custom molded orthotics are made from an impression of your feet in a corrected position performed by Dr. Menendez which will then be fabricated to exact specifications to treat your medical condition.

Custom Supports

Foot orthotics are custom foot supports designed to fit your feet more efficiently than over-the-counter (OTC) arch supports and balance the biomechanical maladies of your feet and legs. We also have prefabricated inserts available as well. However, while they will match some peoples’ arches, others may find the support too high or low, or too far back or forward and this may be a case when custom molded orthotics may be necessary.

Most foot orthotics will last five to 10 years with proper care, and only need to be changed sooner if outgrown by one-and-a-half shoe sizes or you have experienced a change to your feet.

Adjusting to Orthotics

Normal wear and tear is expected with custom molded orthotics and depending on the materials used to fabricate your custom orthotics, they may need to be recovered every 2-4 years, depending on use. Some insurance companies (not all) may cover a portion of treatment costs.

Although some people adapt to custom molded foot orthotics very quickly, the break in process may take up to a month as you gradually increase the time you wear them each day until you are able to wear all day for all activities. Dr. Menendez recommends you should not use them for extended activity, including sports, until you are able to wear them for a full day.
